When our clients book a Cape Town package, a trip to the V&A Waterfront is always a top recommendation. Following International Museum Week, our very own Temarah decided to take it a step further and immerse herself in the spectacular Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA).
Housed in a breathtakingly transformed historic grain silo, this seven-floor architectural marvel is dedicated entirely to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.
"We actually started right at the top and worked our way down," Temarah shares. "We arrived early—just before the tour guides start at 12 PM—so we explored completely at our own pace. It was incredibly liberating."Temarah spent a good two hours taking in the inspiring pieces, noting that each vibrant room carried its own unique energy and feeling.
A major highlight of her visit was the current exhibition, A Protea Is Not a Flower, which brings contemporary artists Lerato Shadi and Robin Rhode into a powerful conversation around identity, resilience, and storytelling.
"The red room absolutely blew me away," Temarah says. "The colors, the depth, the emotion—it just commands your attention."
Alongside other moving installations like Spring Is Rebellious: The Art & Life of Albie Sachs, the museum stands out as a profound cultural landmark. It offers an essential space to look, learn, and expand your perspective.
