The iconic Table Mountain Cableway is set to welcome visitors again from Wednesday, October 30th, showcasing the world-class crisis management that makes it a top global destination. Following last Thursday’s fire incident at the lower station’s parking garage, caused by lithium batteries, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) demonstrated exceptional handling of the situation.

During the incident, the TMACC team successfully evacuated all visitors, ensuring everyone’s safety through well-executed protocols. The company’s efficient response was particularly noteworthy as they managed to safely transport all guests from the mountain summit, affirming their commitment to visitor safety above all else.
Managing Director Wahida Parker confirmed that while the fire affected the parking garage and administration building, it crucially spared the cable car machinery. After thorough assessments by structural engineers and safety experts, the cableway has received the green light to resume operations.

This swift recovery reinforces why Table Mountain, ranked as the Official Seventh Wonder of the World and attracting over 80,000 visitors annually, continues to be one of South Africa’s most cherished landmarks. The incident also highlighted the TMACC’s dedication to maintaining world-class safety standards at this celebrated attraction.
For those eager to experience the mountain’s majesty once again, the Table Mountain Cableway will resume its normal operations tomorrow morning (weather permitting), ready to continue providing unforgettable experiences with enhanced safety measures in place.
