The Meetings Africa Fam Trip: A Journey of Discovery
One of the highlights of Meetings Africa 2024 was the Fam Trip, which hosted 13 esteemed buyers from around the world. Set against the backdrop of the vibrant city of Cape Town, the trip was a whirlwind adventure, blending business with pleasure in perfect harmony.
The itinerary was meticulously crafted to showcase the best of what Southern Africa has to offer. From speed marketing sessions to surprise visits, helicopter rides to mountain top lunches, every moment was designed to inspire and delight. Participants had the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks, engage in adrenaline-pumping activities, and savor the unique flavors of the region.
Post Meetings Africa Fam Trip Itinerary:
Day 1:
Arriving at the prestigious Cape Town International Airport, our esteemed 13 MICE guests were greeted with warm smiles and whisked away to their luxurious accommodations for a seamless check-in experience. After settling in, they had the pleasure of indulging in some leisure time, perhaps catching up on emails or transforming their attire into the vibrant hues of African tradition, in anticipation of the forthcoming soirée. Soon after, their private guide ushered them to the elegant Pullman Hotel, where they were treated to a delectable finger lunch accompanied by exquisite beverages. Networking took on an immersive dimension as they engaged with a curated selection of suppliers amidst the opulent setting of the Pullman. Following a captivating site inspection, a tantalizing surprise awaited, delving into the captivating world of local gems and legends. The evening crescendoed with a culinary extravaganza at Gold Africa Restaurant, where the rhythmic beats of African drums set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
Day 2:
The dawn of a new day was heralded with a sumptuous breakfast spread, setting the tone for another day of opulence and exploration. Awaiting them was an exhilarating journey, commencing with a scenic helicopter flight over the breathtaking Atlantic Seaboard, providing a bird’s-eye view of Cape Town’s majestic skyline. A captivating city orientation drive led them through the vibrant streets, culminating in a visit to the iconic Bo Kaap district, a kaleidoscope of colors and culture. Ascending to the pinnacle of excitement, they embarked on a Cableway trip to Table Mountain, marveling at the panoramic vistas unfolding beneath them. A culinary interlude ensued at the prestigious Twelve Apostles Hotel, followed by a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Camps Bay Beachfront. Their senses were further enticed with a Naan making demonstration at The Taj Hotel, a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation. As dusk descended, they were whisked away to the historic Mount Nelson Hotel, where an evening of sophistication and culinary delights awaited.
Day 3:
Embracing the dawn of a new adventure, they reveled in a leisurely breakfast, eager for the exhilarating experiences that lay ahead. A novel mode of transportation awaited as they embarked on a thrilling side-car journey from The Taj Hotel to Hout Bay Harbour, immersing themselves in the coastal splendor. An enchanting Seal Island Boat Excursion beckoned, offering glimpses into the marine wonders of the Atlantic. The journey continued along the iconic Chapman’s Peak drive, a visual feast of rugged cliffs and azure waters. At the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, they immersed themselves in the untamed beauty of the landscape, culminating in a gourmet repast at the acclaimed Two Oceans Restaurant. A rendezvous with adorable African Penguins awaited at Boulders Beach, a heartwarming encounter with nature’s ambassadors. As evening descended, they retreated to their sanctuary, preparing for a grand finale at the esteemed One & Only Hotel, where culinary excellence awaited.
Day 4:
As the curtains drew close on their unforgettable sojourn, they embarked on a final escapade to Franschhoek, a haven of vinicultural delights. A sensory symphony unfolded at Rickety Bridge Wine Estate, where they indulged in the art of wine blending amidst the idyllic surrounds, accompanied by an array of tantalizing cheeses and charcuterie. Group 1 embarked on a journey to Stellenbosch, partaking in a decadent Chocolate and Wine pairing experience at Spier Wine Estate, a fitting crescendo to their gastronomic odyssey. Meanwhile, Group 2 immersed themselves in the vibrant tapestry of Franschhoek town, before venturing to Spier Wine Estate to explore its craft market. As the day waned, they bid farewell to the enchanting landscapes of Cape Town, departing for Cape Town International Airport, their hearts and palates enriched by the treasures of Southern Africa.
