The Cango Caves are finest dripstone caverns, with vast halls and towering formations you will find. These caves are the only show caves in Africa that offer a choice of two different tour types, both lead by experienced, knowledgeable and accredited Caves Guides who will conduct visitors along the magic paths of the world’s finest stalactite cave. All tours are offered in English but Afrikaans, German, French and other language options may be available (these options can be checked when we make a reservation). The two tour types to choose from are either the Heritage Tour or the Adventure Tour. The Heritage Tour is an easy tour, departing every 60 minutes on the hour and is 60 minutes long. The Heritage Tour offers stops at several points of interest such as the Drum Room offering a translucent formation and Botha’s Hall which is completed by two columns soaring upwards to the ceiling. There are many interesting and facilitating formations, to be seen throughout this tour! The Drum Room 500 meters from the entrance point provides the first major turn-back point for this tour.

The Adventure Tour is for the real adventurous, this tour departs every 60 minutes on the half hour and is 90 minutes long. The Adventure Tour has the same starting point as the Heritage Tour but continues to lead deeper into the cave, where the Heritage Tour ends is where the Adventure Tour starts. Highlights of the Adventure Tour include (but are not limited to) the 85 meter long Lumbago Valley – with a low roof and for 28 meters the roof height seldom exceeds 1.2 meters, Devil’s Chimney – You will have to crawl through the Tunnel of Love passageway some 74 centimeters high, narrowing to about 30 centimeters at one point and Devil’s Kitchen which is a steep shaft about 45 centimeters wide which heads upwards for some 3,5 meters. After Devil’s Kitchen you will reach Devil’s Post Box, the only exit route, where you will have to use ‘Leopard Crawl’ to wriggle forward as you approach a low, wide slot that is only 27 centimeters high!
